Hale County Jail Transfers
A person who starts in Hale County Jail may later move to another system. After a felony sentence, the Alabama Department of Corrections may become the correct lookup source. If the person is federally charged, U.S. Marshals custody may be involved before the person appears in the Bureau of Prisons locator. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to present and can search by register number, DCDC number, FBI number, INS number, or name. If the issue is immigration detention, ICE ODLS requires either an A-number with country of birth or a biographical search, and it cannot search records of people under 18.

Hale County Jail History
Hale County has correctional history that should not be confused with the current jail. The National Park Service identifies the Greensboro Historic District in Hale County, and Alabama preservation material includes the Old Hale County Jail in Greensboro. That old jail is local history, not the active detention facility used for current custody inquiries.
The former Farquhar State Cattle Ranch, also known as State Cattle Ranch, was historically in Hale County near Greensboro and closed in 2013. It should not be listed as an active ADOC prison or current detention facility. The current ADOC facilities list reviewed for this project did not show an active major correctional facility or work center in Hale County.
